Report: +1 Initiative: Charlotte – Local Missions Day and Disaster Relief Training

Hickory Grove impacted our community this weekend through the +1 Initiative Local Missions Day and Disaster Relief Training. Over 100 volunteers reached out in five areas of service. Here is a report and gallery from this weekend:

Lois Lodge – 18 volunteers assisted at the Walk-a Thon for the Maternity Home. The praise team One Voice entertained while the others assisted with a bake sale, manned a bouncy house for kids and walked.

Hickory Grove Elementary School – 40 volunteers assisted with  installing mulch, pine needles, flowers, trimmed shrubs, repair fencing, picnic tables, and garden boxes to beautify the grounds.

Car Care – 7 men volunteered at the Car Care Ministry and repaired 18 cars of single moms. The Gospel was shared twice and 1 accepted Christ!

Clothes Closet  – 10 volunteers assisted with the clothes closet and 35 people from the community visited the “closet”.

Disaster Relief – 30 volunteers from Hickory Grove were trained in administration, recovery, medical and feeding to be prepared for disaster relief.

Pittsburgh Testimonies

We had a great week of ministry during our spring break trip to Pittsburgh! God moved in a great way as our team shared the Gospel, served, ministered and worshipped. We saw seven people profess faith in Christ through our various outreach events and services and reached out to many hundreds more. Continue to pray for Ken and Paula as they minister in this difficult city and check out the video below to hear a few testimonies of what God did in and through our team!

Disaster Relief: “Our intention is to put feet to the Gospel”

A large team of volunteers from Hickory Grove led by many of our pastors, continued today with storm related debris removal and clean up in a new area of Charlotte: Plaza Road Extension. The destruction was heavy with an excessive amount of downed trees, some of which were immense.

Local news crews were on hand highlighting the volunteer effort. This report is from local station WCNC News Channel 36:
